Begin by deciding where your patio project would look best in your yard
or garden. Remove any sod from the work area if necessary.
Prepare a compacted sub-base using gravel (or crushed stone). For
sidewalks or patios, dig 4-5" and use 2-3" compacted base. For
driveways, dig 8"-10" and use 6-8" compacted base.
Washed sand should be used for your bedding course. Spread and
level at a uniform depth of 1.5".
Lay the pavers over the sand in the desired pattern, allowing for an
eighth inch joint width.
When needed, cut pavers with a masonry saw to ensure clean edges and
accurate fit.
Gently tap all pavers into place using a hammer and block of wood;
use a level to ensure that everything is even.
Tighten all pavers by sweeping fine sand over the surface of your
project, filling joints completely. |
